Before the Appointment
- Pick up prescription(s) at your pharmacy the day before your appointment. Take all medications exactly as prescribed by the dentist.
- No food or drinking (except water with medication) for 6 hours prior to appointment
- No sedatives for 24 hours before or after appointment (other than night time medications prescribed by the dentist.)
- No stimulants 12 hours before, during, or after appointment, including caffeine and nicotine.
- Must a responsible person bring you to the office and walk you in to check in. DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF.
- Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes and comfortable shoes. Do not wearcontact lenses, if possible wear glasses.
During the Appointment
- Please use the restroom immediately prior to the start of your appointment. If you need to use the restroom during your appointment one of our staff members will accompany you in the restroom.
- Leave valuables (purses, etc) at home or with responsible party.
- Please no electronic devices or cell phone use during your appointment (except to listen to music).
After the Appointment
- Have responsible person drive you straight home and stay with you the remainder of the day. If the responsible party is not physically able to support sedated patient (up stairs, out of car, etc) you may need to bring an additional person to help.
- You will be drowsy the remainder of the day, so plan on resting the entire day. No driving for 24 hours after appointment.
- No operating hazardous devices or heavy lifting.
- No making important decisions.
- Remember to drink plenty of fluids.
