Summertime is the perfect time to hit the open road or leave on a jet plane to go somewhere new. Whether you’re the type of person who likes to travel for leisure or if you’re the type of person who is more up for an adventure, getting away is just what the soul needs sometimes. But while you’re on vacation and sipping a cocktail poolside, don’t forget to do things that are part of your routine like take care of your oral health.
Watch The Sugary Cocktails
Even though that pina colada may practically be calling your name, all of those cocktails (even if they’re made with real fruit) are full of sugar which isn’t going to do your mouth any flavors. No, you don’t have to skimp on them completely, but try to drink some water in between so that you can rinse some of the sugar off of your teeth.
Brush And Brush
Don’t be that person who forgets to brush their teeth when you’re on vacation. Because brushing is so easy to do and it only take s a few minutes out of your day, there’s no excuse why you should skip it. Just make sure that you bring a clean toothbrush and that you’re not sharing with your roomate because that’s a quick way to spread oral bacteria.
Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated while you’re traveling will save you from things like jet lag, headaches, and tons of fatigue. But, drinking water while you’re traveling will also help your mouth stay hydrated and will encourage your mouth’s natural production of saliva which cuts down on cavities in the process.
